2015: “Unaccountable” (High School Play)

This was the first time I was ever commissioned to make promotional material for a school event. I’ve performed at school events, I’ve helped set up for school events, but I’ve never worked in marketing a school event, something that definitely fascinated me given that it would provide me a chance to stretch my graphic design muscles and actually create something that would attract the eye of a potential audience member. In my freshman year of High School, I was hired by another older student who noticed my work and asked if I would help make a poster for the play he was putting on with his class. Back then it was a tradition/course-requirement in my school to have students participate and put on a drama production. Sophomores would perform a murder-mystery/comedy, Juniors would perform a biography of a saint or some other religious figure, and Seniors would perform Shakespeare. As you’ll soon see down the timeline, I too would end up participating in them in more ways than one. But back to the production of “Unaccountable”, I was basically commissioned to create a poster for the play based on notes and rough sketches from the person who hired me. It was very basic and a bit amateurish since I was still trying to understand how the software worked as well as worked to refine my own art skills at the same time. But nonetheless it was very exciting to see my artwork used to publicly advertise a school event. And as stated previously, this would very soon open the doors to more opportunities involving concept art and graphic design.
