2021: “The Night Shift” (Short Film)
This was the 3rd and final short film project I produced during the spring semester of my junior year. And it was a pretty big one, not just in length, but also in scope with a slightly bigger budget, cast, and crew. The scriptwriting process took about a month, principal photography took about a month (taking place entirely on the University of St. Thomas campus), and the editing also took about a month. Overall, a 3-month process to produce the final 15-minute product. It’s also worth mentioning that the cast and crew was also comprised of some wonderfully talented students from both the University of St. Thomas as well as the University of Minnesota. Many thanks and credit to them as well! The short film itself is meant as a slight homage to the popular internet writing project known as The SCP Foundation, with the whole concept of a secret organization dedicated at capturing and containing dangerous entities like cursed items and deadly creatures. Think “Twilight Zone” meets “Men in Black”. Which in turn also explains why I also view this project as a sort of “proof of concept” for a TV series with a similar premise and formula. Overall, a project I would very much like to remake with a bigger budget for a perhaps a future pilot opportunity.
